Mum as motorcycle despatch rider in WRNS Mum as motorcycle despatch rider at Dartmouth Transfer rejected

1939: My mother joined the WRNS in 1939 and was stationed at Dartmouth Naval College.

1941: She said one of her main tasks was delivering fresh lobster from Dartmouth to the officers' mess at Portsmouth (and fixing everyone else's motobikes).

1943: They rejected her request for transfer to the Fleet Air Arm as she was too valuable in the Transport Corps.
